The January meeting of the Prescott Camera Club will feature Dr. George Lewis speaking on "The Dynamics of Expressive Black and White Photography" 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Plaza Bonita Restaurant on East Gurley at the Best Western Prescottonian.

This presentation will show how to translate techniques of making film-based silver gelatin prints using Ansel Adams' Zone system in the modern digital age.

Members of the Prescott Camera Club are trying to revive an interest in creative black and white images. Lewis, a retired pediatrician with a longtime interest in photography, learned the Zone system in 1984.

A review of some of Adams' prints to appreciate what made his work so special will also take place.

The presentation will also include the philosophy of John Sexton, Adams' longtime assistant; techniques from other well-known photographers; and discussion on contrast and managing highlight values.

Prescott Camera Club is open to guests. The group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Dinner starts at 5:15 p.m., a photo competition at 6 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m.
