On March 9, 2013, Mavis L. Reynolds, 94, woke up in heaven where she met her Savior face to face and all of her loved ones who have gone on before her.
Mavis was born in Mesa, Ariz., Feb. 25, 1919. She attended first grade through high school there. After graduation, she attended Gregg Shorthand School. Soon after completing her courses, she joined the U.S. Navy Waves, where she was a secretary during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, she worked for the Forest Service. There she met her beloved husband Reginald Reynolds. They lived at various U.S. Forest Ranger stations in Arizona before retirement. Mavis was a member of the Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Claire "Junie" Bouten (Jim), Jeanna Kuhlman (Gordon), Marcia Porter, Lee Reynolds (Rosanne), and Rosalyn Dawkins; her nieces, Martha Horn (Ron), Linda Warren (Richard) and Jan Swan; her nephews, Les Nesmith (Sue) and Sam Jackson, (Pat); and sister-in-law Darlene Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Reynolds, parents Ally and Nina Jackson, sister Gertrude Nesmith, brothers Raymond and Sam Jackson, and stepson Paul Reynolds.
There will be a short graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Heritage Memorial Park, 12000 E. Heritage Memorial Lane, Dewey, Ariz.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. March 21, 2013 at LifeStream Senior Lining Chapel, 11527 W. Peoria Ave., Youngtown, Ariz.
