Letter: Big money has killed democracy
EDITOR:

The McCuthcheon vs. FEC ruling by the Supreme Court has again demonstrated the Supreme Court's, 5-to-4 majority's intention to legalize bribery of our elected (purchased) leaders. Now the wealthy can more conveniently contribute unlimited amounts to control who will become the decision makers in our former democracy.

Letter: PV is wrong to 'Stand with Israel'
EDITOR:

Recently, the Prescott Valley Town Council issued a proclamation, We Stand with Israel. In supporting Israel's military occupation that imprisons 1.7 million Christian and Muslim Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, is to be uninformed and unjust.

Letter: Developers want your scenic views for their customers
The idea of the Touchmark Senior Living Community is a nice concept. However, the Touchmark developer wants to receive special city permission to increase the building height above the allowable 50-foot limit.

Letter: Raising wages won't destroy economy
I feel that I simply must respond to the various items in the newspapers and magazines about how devastating raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour is going to be to the economy. Fear that thousands of low-wage jobs will be lost is preposterous.

Letter: Airport upgrades would be beneficial
Editor:

Prescott's leaders are wise to carefully consider the future of the local airport.

Across the nation, it's clear that commercial air service is a critical component for smart economic development.

Letter: Tired of the players? Elect a new team
Editor:

I am amazed at the number of letters written where the individual does not understand our form of government and capitalism. Case in point, the letter from DJ Wood, "Corporate oligarcy should not be legal."

Letter: Foxes take charge of the water supply
EDITOR:

As an admitted skeptic, I was not too surprised to hear that Prescott and Prescott Valley had offered to perform the baseline water flow monitoring of the Verde River after each city again elected to cut their contribution to the Water Advisory Committee in half (an approximately $42,000 shortfall to the WAC).

Letter: Dog owners ought to do cleanup duty

Letter: 25 years later, remember the Valdez
EDITOR:

March 24 marked 25 years since the Exxon Valdez oil tanker ran aground and spilled nearly 11 million gallons of crude oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound. The devastating effects of this disaster linger. Fisherman and Native Peoples have lost livelihoods, there are toxins in the sediments and the herring have never recovered. What does this 25th anniversary of a national tragedy say to us?

Letter: SB 2305's fail was not a death sentence
EDITOR:

SB 2305 - remember that one? The voter suppression bill put forth by the Arizona Legislature? Requiring voter ID, making it easier to remove voters' names from the permanent early voter list, and criminalizing the act of taking someone's early ballot to the polls for them.

Letter: Right-wing hatchet jobs unconvincing
After reading the column by Buz Williams on Hillary Clinton showing "weakness" to Russia's Vladimir Putin, and causing his current actions, I would like to suggest that the "weakness" being displayed is on the part of the "super-cons" of the Republican Party.

The recent letter to the editor denouncing genetically modified foods (GMOs) deserves rebuttal, lest the public take the rants of the anti-GMO crowd to be actual knowledge of the topic.

After we retired in Phoenix, Judy wanted to move to Prescott because the city was reported to have a wonderful hospital. I had wanted to move to Payson, but as usual, "What Judy wants, Judy gets" Little did I know this decision would ultimately save her life!

Letter: April 8 vote critical for Stoneridge

Though the language on the ballot is a little less than eloquent, we will have an election on April 8. A yes vote will remove the authorization for 18.2 million dollars of possible future debt for the residents.
