Letter: Community spirit awes new residents

EDITOR:

I have never written to a newspaper in my life, but feel the need to express my amazement at the citizens of Prescott. My husband and I moved here after falling in love with the charm of the city. We saw children being raised with values that are not seen in much of today's society. We observed respect for senior citizens and the military. Beautiful parades in which everyone is cheerfully involved, lighting of the courthouse at Christmas time, making it a magical place for children and adults. It is the sharing of events that brings people together.

But never in our wildest dreams, could we have imagined the outpouring of love and support shown with the loss of our brave Hotshots.

Prescott stands as a beacon for the entire world of how amazing the citizens of this town are and how the caring for our fellow beings has more strength than any threat of terror. We are so proud to be a part of this community and the beautiful people who share it. God bless the families of our heroes and the people so willing to support them.

Sylvia and George Schlotterbeck

Let's not forget the many, many firefighters who came here to help the local firefighters by donating their personal time to relieve them so they could be with their families to grieve. Also, to the countless number of "outside" firefighters who sent their condolences in the way of T-shirts and other items that graced the memorial fence.
