Letter: Christian principles should guide voting

EDITOR:

In just weeks we will be going to the polls to cast our votes for President of the United Sates who will once again impact our entire nation.

If more Christians voted their faith tens of millions of children wouldn't have been killed by abortion and used for lab experiments. Homosexual "marriages" would not be imposed on some states. Euthanasia chants most likely would not be on the rise with the threat of medical rational, and I would like to believe we would not be in the longest war ever recorded in American history. Our borders would be better secured as well as the job market, and maybe our Christian liberty would not be under assault like never before.

Our nation is in a mess. If Christians were not blinded by party loyalty, the continual spin that the media puts on issues, and by the outright lies that have been told by politicians of all walks, then perhaps we stand a chance of turning our nation around for the good.

As Christians, we rationalize voting for candidates who told us what we wanted to hear only to turn their backs on their campaign promises. We as Christians must vote in accordance with moral principles. Let us not repeat the same cycle of errors that led our nation to this devastating account.

Both our presidential candidates have announced time and time again their Biblical convictions bridging the imaginary gap of separation of church and state. Shouldn't Christians be holding to those same principles at the polls?

The only thing going for "Mittens" is him hating Obama and that's just about all we know of him.

I'll be casting my vote for Mitt because of Ryan. Palin was the reason I didn't cast my vote for McCain. Someday though the Republicans will nominate somebody we can be confident in. YA think?

@Ghost of the Real Prescott Patriot: Nice try, but here's the real quote from Mr. Obama:

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. Yet to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see when the image of Jesus Christ is desecrated, churches are destroyed, or the Holocaust is denied. Let us condemn incitement against Sufi Muslims, and Shiite pilgrims. It is time to heed the words of Gandhi: “Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit.” Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies, and that is the vision we will support."

@Ghost of the Real Prescott Patriot, You wrote, "The future belongs to nations that respect the prophet Mohamed!" -Barack Hussein Obama, UN speach (sic), September 2012.
He never said this. Try doing a little research before commenting.
He did say this though,
"The future must not belong to those who target Coptic Christians in Egypt -- it must be claimed by those in Tahrir Square who chanted, "Muslims, Christians, we are one." The future must not belong to those who bully women -- it must be shaped by girls who go to school, and those who stand for a world where our daughters can live their dreams just like our sons.
The future must not belong to those corrupt few who steal a country’s resources -- it must be won by the students and entrepreneurs, the workers and business owners who seek a broader prosperity for all people. Those are the women and men that America stands with theirs is the vision we will support.
The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied.
Let us condemn incitement against Sufi Muslims and Shiite pilgrims. It’s time to heed the words of Gandhi: "Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit."
Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies, that’s the vision we will support."

Obama fell short of the challenge so why hire this failed President for another four years? The blame game has to stop. He can't continue to blame GW Bush, or Congress or Europe. He's had nearly four years to solve the mystery of economic recover how is he going to do with four more years?

@ghost - how do you interpret that? Is that what he meant, or are you seeking to find reason to support your pr4concieved notions. I think you may have missed the point. But I'm not your friggin teacher so on in bliss you go....

But that is typical of the spin.... So no worries, you a just another manipulated lemming... not unusual. Did you listen to the speech or did you do the typical Republican "I got this here from "FOX or in an email "designed to outrage me.

Its the outrage industry and you are their best customer. Cheap old fiddles are much harder to play than you.

@Marianne: I think conversations like this are healthy. Hopefully we all learn a thing or two and that's the whole point. So, don't worry whether I agree or disagree with you.

Comments have been read and genuinely studied. Thank you.
Christians as a whole have done atrocious things. We have caused bitterness and hate where we should have been nurturing love. My heart hurts imagining the discomfort I may have caused some of you as a result of my evangelizing and formally request forgiveness. To have used the press/net for sharing my christian perspectives was an act of selfishness and I'll do my best to abstain in the future.
What matters most now is Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
See you at the polls.

Peace/Shalom

I don't believe Obama respects or honors the tradition of our nation and where does it say the author of this letter is handing him to us on a silver platter? Pure speculation on their part.

America was founded on, 'there are more of us than there are of you and we are better armed. Here, have some fire water, good stuff.

When the white man landed they asked the natives to pray and they closed their eyes and bowed their head and when they opened their eyes, the white man had the deed to their land.

Article comment by: YEAH! To 'vote obama out'

I agree with "VOTE OBAMA OUT!"
Well said!
Obama and many of his followers claim to be Christian but not according to the book of Isaiah 29-13 ------ "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips but have removed their hearts far from Me and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men."
Muslim or Mormon?
Another 4 years of worsening socialism with Obama and another 4 years of Obama hating Israel? I think not!
I'll go with the Mormon.

Article comment by: Vote Obama Out!

Marianne said: "Both our Presidential Candidates have announced time and time again their Biblical convictions...." she's right.
Obama professed to be a Christian and that he and his wife "wanted to set a good example for their daughters." What good example? I say a good example of this: What a phony, confused, opportunist, turncoat, spineless Christian looks like.

We must do a thorough housecleaning November 2012 and get Obama out of the People's House.
If you want to continue to write and read posts without government censorship vote Obama out.
If you cherish our freedom in this Sovereign Nation than vote Obama out.

If the biased Liberal Main Stream Media had done their job and been half as diligent at vetting our now President as they have been with Mitt Romney in the first place it would have likely saved the American People nearly four long hard years of heartache and needless suffering.

I ask you to pray and seek God's face at this crucial time in our history as a Nation.

Another four years with Barrack Hussein Obama will end completely destroyed and dismantle our Nation.

This is what voting Christian Principles is about and this is one of the best letters to the editors I have read!

Good Job!

Oh, you know, the usual cliches. Heal the sick. Feed the hungry. Turn the other cheek. Forgive. Care for the weakest among us. Don't worship yourself and don't pursue riches. Be strong and humble. Seek to elevate your spirit, not your political party. Don't pray for the sight of others and don't undertake to judge your fellow man.

I freely admit that these ideas were as radical when Jesus proposed them as they are today, so not many people have ever really followed them.
