Prescott Film Festival is an all-volunteer organization, seeking volunteers to serve in the roles of Director of Fundraising and Director of Volunteers. The Director of Fundraising will lead fundraising activities to support the Festival's growth and leadership of the Fundraising Team. The Director of Volunteers will lead a team of Volunteer Coordinators to staff Festival events and work with our wonderful volunteers. Bird songs mean spring's a-coming!
In winter when the days are short, I often leave the house before it is light, and arrive home around dusk, so I miss a lot of the bird action in my yard. One day this past week, I happened to be home during the day, and I was taken aback by all of the bird songs I was hearing.

Neuschwanstein's fairytale castle in the Alps
I had my first view of the castle of Neuschwanstein over the south end of a northbound horse. Wrapped in scratchy old wool blankets and perched on bales of hay, we rode in a little horse-drawn covered carriage up a long winding road to the castle.

How birds survive food shortages
Our wet, snowy weather this past week has resulted in a variety of unusual birds showing up at peoples' feeders. Species that normally are not very dependent on human-provided food sources found the going to be pretty rough last week when all of their natural food sources were covered by snow.

Time for some fun in the snow
Prescott-area residents currently have one of their rare opportunities to have a little fun in the snow.

Last weekend people flocked to the courthouse plaza to make snowmen and throw snowballs, and a few even got in a bit of skiing in Granite Creek Park.

Prescott area has seven species of owls
Seven species of owls have been documented to occur in the Prescott area, according to Dr. Carl Tomoff, author of the "Birds of Prescott, Arizona Checklist." Since 1974, Tomoff has been documenting the occurrence of all wild bird species that have been seen in the Prescott area.

Outdoors enthusiasts prepare for winter storms
With major winter storms presently pummeling Arizona, Game and Fish Department officials are recommending that hunters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts be prepared or perhaps alter their outdoor plans until the storms pass, flood waters have subsided and back roads become negotiable.
