Column: Putting the kibosh on the malaria problem
In that 1977 movie titled "Oh, God!", George Burns - in the title role - admitted to having committed some mistakes during the creation phase. Included in his grand plan were the inclusion of tobacco, giraffes and avocados, the latter because "I made the seeds too big."

The camaraderie was much in evidence at Prescott's Plaza Bonita restaurant this past Thursday when a contingent of six Koreans from Los Angeles were on hand to present Ambassador of Peace medals earned by 40 qualifying members of the local H. FDR provided will, inspiration for World War II
Actually, what happened in last week's column is that I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5. This occurred in my wrap-up article focusing on Doris Kearns Goodwin's book titled "No Ordinary Time: Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II" when I referred to Iwo Jima as "the island that was crucial to U.S. forces for use as a base from which B-29s could take off to bomb Japan."

Column: Author notes how the tide turned in World War II
In this final leg of my trilogy focusing on Doris Kearns Goodwin's extraordinary "No Ordinary Time: Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II" book, I'd like to touch on some defining moments in the war itself before closing with the author's observations on the war's subsequent impact on our nation's economy.

Column: These dentists have fun, keep actively learning
Their relationship is both paternal and fraternal, resulting in comfy chemistry within their dentistry. I'm speaking here of Dr. Paul Wulff, a 27-year veteran of local dental doings, and his son, Dr. Aaron Wulff, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who joined his dad last year in his Prescott practice after "taking flight" from his 4-year military commitment.

Social Security: Husbands or wives (and kids) get benefits
At the start of a new year, many folks like to take stock of their situation in life - work, health, finances, etc. But most of us avoid doing much thinking about death - or what it might mean for surviving loved ones.

Column: A pox, I say, on both houses
Be you Democrat or Republican, I would invite you to join me in expressing justifiable anger - and disbelief - at what has been going on in Washington.

First and foremost is that business with bailouts. Even if you're beset with short-term memory loss, you no doubt recall that George W. Bush (R) heard his Treasury secretary ...

Prescott's Open Door, which operates under the umbrella of the Coalition for Compassion and Justice (CCJ), since 2001 has been providing low-income families and the homeless with nutritious meals, food boxes, clothing and other services.
